12 New IAFT Grads

The International Academy of Film and Television (IAFT) held its fourth graduation ceremony this year this past Saturday, October 11, 2008.

Twelve graduates received their diplomas in filmmaking. The students of this class are from the Philippines, the Unites States, India and Holland: Maaike Wolterink, Anirban Sinha, Margael Ember Navarro, Olaf Martinus Robert Jacobson, Maria Cristina Casas, Brian Valdez, Willem Johan Bosma, Mark Christian Sarion, Andrea Nicole Pastrano, Craig Adrian Tuazon, Joseph Olav Laurel and Joel Gana.

The keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony was Richard Hearsey, an international filmmaker whose credits include game shows shot throughout the world such as “Family Feud” (Germany, Greece) and “The Price is Right” (Germany, Greece, France.) He is an experienced producer and director and will join IAFT for the next couple terms as a mentor.

Jeff Bacon, senior mentor at IAFT, said of this class, “the thesis films showcased [at the graduation ceremony] are a testament to the high quality of work produced by our students. Each student grew so much from when they started in all areas from story to cinematography to editing and sound design. We even had our first ever thesis film shot entirely on 16mm.”
