IAFT SEARCHES FOR LOCAL TALENT AT CASTING EVENT
Cebu, PHILIPPINES (July 4, 2008)

On Friday, June 27th, the International Academy of Film and Television (IAFT) hosted an open casting/film and music festival at Club Nuvo. In an effort to introduce local talent to acting opportunities in student films, IAFT provided a relaxed atmosphere where the two groups could mingle while enjoying screenings of student films and local band performances.

Artistic talent is not lacking in Cebu, however, uniting these often isolated groups can be a challenge. IAFT attempted to bridge this gap by holding a music and film festival that also served as an open casting call.   As actors entered the event they were asked to leave their contact information and introduce themselves on video.   This video will be accessible to students who are casting their films.

The evening's entertainment included student film screenings and music performances. The short films were chosen by the school's mentors and showed some of the impressive work that students have produced over the last several years. Among the films shown were “Wish,” a high-energy, heartwarming story about a deaf break-dancer; “Crash Course,” a comedy about a mismatched cop duo; and “Dead Mail.” a drama about the consequences of infidelity.   Zarah Smith, Lui and the Band and Dysfunction provided the live music for the evening.   In addition to the entertainment, IAFT merchandise was raffled off as well as a free workshop at the school.
