Budding and experienced actors of all ages and proficiency levels will get to enhance their talent this summer at the International Academy of Film and Television's (IAFT) line up of Summer Performing Arts Workshops.
Covering the areas of Acting and Dance and Movement, the line-up begins with 'Creative Drama for Kids,' a workshop that will make acting fun for kids as they are taught to use their creative imagination to impart persuasive acting.
Teens aspiring for a career in Dance are taught the combination of classic techniques and modern music in an intensely satisfying class in the workshop named 'Contemporary Dance Workshop for Teens.' 'Creative Drama for Kids' and 'Contemporary Dance Workshop for Teens' roll out on the Mondays to Fridays of April 7 to 25.
Kids turn into Broadway babies in the fun 'Musical Workshop for Kids,' while teens begin their journey to the world of show tunes and chorus lines with the specially designed 'Musical Workshop for Teens' - both set on the Mondays to Fridays of April 7 to May 2.
Also happening on those days is the four-week introduction to drama, 'Basic Acting Workshop for Teens,' while on April 14 to 18, children become compelling actors on screen with 'Basic Acting for TV and Film for Kids,' a course specially designed for acting in front of the camera.
On April 21 to May 2 (Mondays to Friday only), the IAFT will once again offer the workshop on the study of human movement that it first presented to the country in November 2007, the 'Laban Movement Analysis Workshop.' Proven priceless to the discipline of dance, the Laban Movement Analysis is the most detailed and comprehensive system of movement analysis to date.
With 'Performance Acting Workshop: 10-minute Plays,' IAFT adds a twist to this year's slate of summer workshops. According to IAFT's Program Director for Acting Lawrence Espinosa, "This time we double up the fun by adding workshops not just for kids but also for experienced actors." Taking place on the Mondays to Fridays of April 7 to 25 for actors 16 years and older, 'Performance Acting Workshop: 10-minute Plays' will teach actors to convey a power-packed performance in a mere ten minutes.
Espinosa adds, "The important thing is the international experience we are going to share - the new ways and new approaches to creating things."He pertains to those who impart IAFT's world-class training - mentors who are industry professionals from the world's film and acting capitals. Among those who are set to conduct the IAFT Summer Performing Arts Workshops are IAFT Mentors Dan Shor and John-Mark Slade.
The IAFT Summer Performing Arts Workshops will be held at IAFT's seaside, state-of-the-art campus at the Bigfoot I.T & Media Park in Mactan, Cebu.
